# Using Demo Mode

> Explore the full MyTruv experience with realistic sample data, before you connect anything of your own.

Demo mode fills MyTruv with a realistic sample account so you can see what the app does before linking anything real. It is read-only and completely separate from your own data: nothing you do in demo touches your accounts, and nothing from the demo persona stays behind when you leave.

## Starting a demo

**On iOS**, look for **Try demo mode** wherever the app offers to connect something:

* The **Demo mode** pill on the sign-up screen, before you have an account at all
* The pre-connect screen on **Accounts** and **Banks, payroll & credit**
* The pre-connect screen on **Credit**
* The prompt on **Home** shown while no bank is connected

**On the web**, Home shows a **Want to see before committing?** prompt while you have nothing connected. Open it to explore the sample account.

<Tip>Demo mode on iOS is available in MyTruv iOS 1.7 and later. You don't need an account to try it: tap **Demo mode** on the sign-up screen, and your sign-up answers are still waiting for you when you exit.</Tip>

## What you see

Every data screen is filled with the sample account: Home, Feed, Spending, Cash Flow, Recurring, Accounts, Credit and Income. There are no empty states to work around, and none of your own data appears.

The assistant also takes on the demo persona while you're there. Its avatar and name change on entry and change back the moment you leave, without a trip to Settings.

On iOS, entering demo keeps you on the Home page you were already looking at rather than sending you back to the first one.

## What you can't do

Demo mode is read-only. Actions that would change data do nothing and show a short read-only message instead. The buttons stay visible and tappable rather than being hidden or greyed out, so the app still looks and behaves like the real thing.

This covers signing out, Membership, adding a financial or payroll account, and editing or recategorizing transactions. The assistant's input bar reads **Read-only in demo mode**. **AI Integrations** opens normally.

## Leaving a demo

Tap **Exit demo**. One tap is enough, from any screen, and you are returned to your own data straight away.

**On iOS 1.10 and later**, where that control sits depends on the tab:

* On **Home**, **Exit demo** is a pill in the header, next to the search field. There is no bar above the tab bar.
* On **Feed** and **Assistant**, a **You're in demo mode** bar sits above the bottom tab bar, with **Exit demo** on it. The tab bar underneath stays usable.

Before 1.10, the bar appeared on every tab, including Home.

**On the web**, a **You're in demo mode** pill sits at the bottom of the screen with an exit control on it.
