# Understanding Your Net Worth

> Learn how MyTruv calculates and displays your net worth.

Your net worth is one of the most important numbers in personal finance. MyTruv calculates it automatically based on your connected accounts.

## How net worth is calculated

**Net Worth = Total Assets - Total Liabilities**

* **Assets** - checking accounts, savings accounts, investment accounts, and anything else with a positive balance
* **Liabilities** - credit card balances, loans, mortgages, and other debts

## Where to find your net worth

Both platforms have an **Accounts** screen that shows your full net worth with a balance-history chart and an assets/liabilities breakdown:

<Note>
  **On the web** - open [Accounts](https://app.mytruv.com/data/networth) from the sidebar.

  **On iOS** - open [Accounts](https://app.mytruv.com/data/networth) on the **Home** tab, in the row of pages across the top. **Summary** also shows a **Net Cash** widget - note this is a narrower number (checking + savings minus credit card balances), not the full net worth.
</Note>

## Tracking net worth over time

MyTruv tracks how your net worth changes over time. Review the trend on the Accounts screen on either platform.

<Tip>For the most accurate net worth reading, connect all your financial accounts - including loans, credit cards, and investments, not just bank accounts.</Tip>

<Note>Net worth fluctuates daily based on investment performance, spending, and payments. Focus on the long-term trend rather than day-to-day changes.</Note>
