# Meet Your AI Assistant

> MyTruv's built-in AI financial assistant - what it can do, where to find it, and how it uses your data.

MyTruv includes an AI assistant that understands your financial data. You can ask it questions in plain language and it answers using your real account balances, transactions, and recurring activity.

## Where to find your assistant

Open the **Assistant** on either platform.

<Note>
  **On the web** - the assistant is available two ways:

  * As a **docked side panel** on the right edge of every app page (Home, Spending, Cash Flow, and so on), so you can ask a question without leaving the page you're on. Collapse it with the chevron in its header; expand it back when you need it.
  * As a **full-page view** at `app.mytruv.com/chat`, reached from **Assistant** in the sidebar or from the expand icon on the side panel.

  Both views talk to the same conversations - a thread you start in the side panel is the same one you see on the full page.

  **On iOS** - tap the **Assistant** tab in the bottom tab bar. The tab icon is your selected assistant avatar (a sparkles icon by default if you haven't picked one yet).
</Note>

## What your assistant can do

* **Answer financial questions** - "How much did I spend on groceries last month?", "What's my net worth?", "Show me my biggest expenses this quarter."
* **Generate visualizations** - bar, pie, line, or table charts rendered directly in the conversation.
* **Summarize your finances** - quick recaps of spending, income, or cash flow over a time range.
* **Spot patterns** - ask about trends, unusual charges, or category breakdowns.
* **Stay in context** - the assistant remembers what you've asked earlier in the same conversation.

## Edit transactions from chat

You can also ask the assistant to update how a transaction is labeled. It confirms before making bulk changes.

* **Change a transaction's category** - "Move my last Amazon charge to Groceries"
* **Rename a merchant** - "Rename SBUX to Starbucks"
* **Hide from spending totals** - "Hide this refund from my totals"
* **Flag as recurring** - "Mark my monthly HelloFresh charge as a subscription"
* **Stop treating as recurring** - "HelloFresh isn't a subscription anymore, don't track it as recurring" - the merchant drops off your Recurring page
* **Flag as an internal transfer** - "This is a transfer between my accounts, not spending"

Ask the assistant to change just one transaction, or every transaction from the same merchant.

## How to start

Open the assistant and either type your question or, on iOS, use the microphone to speak it. The conversation streams back in real time. Each conversation is its own thread; you can start a new one at any time.

## Your data stays private

The assistant accesses your MyTruv account data to answer questions. It does not share your information with third parties. For the full privacy policy, see [mytruv.com/privacy](https://mytruv.com/privacy).

<Note>Please remember that the assistant's answers are informational only, not financial advice. See [mytruv.com/terms](https://mytruv.com/terms) for the full terms.</Note>

<Tip>The more specific your question, the more useful the answer. "How much did I spend on Uber this month?" beats "How much did I spend on rides?"</Tip>
