# What's New

## Edit Transactions with Your AI Assistant
You can now ask your AI assistant to change a transaction's category, rename a merchant, hide a transaction from your spending totals, or flag it as an internal transfer. Describe the change in chat and the assistant confirms before making bulk edits. You can also ask it to set a rule so future transactions from the same merchant are always categorized the same way.
## Bug Fixes and Polish
* Spending category breakdowns now match their headline totals - a data issue was leaving roughly half of transactions out of subcategory tallies while still counting them in the total
* Navigating back from a transaction detail now works correctly from all contexts, including after hiding or deleting a transaction
* Opening a direct link to a deleted transaction now shows the correct deleted state instead of stale data
* Long custom merchant names no longer overflow the delete confirmation dialog
## MCP Write Tools
Three write tools are now available on the MyTruv MCP server at `api.mytruv.com/mcp`:
* **`recategorizeTransaction`** - change a transaction's category, rename the merchant, hide it from spending totals, or flag it as recurring or an internal transfer
* **`bulkRecategorizeTransactions`** - apply the same change to up to 200 transactions in one call
* **`createCategorizationRule`** - create a standing rule so future transactions from a merchant are categorized automatically (retroactive by default)

## View Hidden Transactions
The Transactions filter now has a **Show hidden transactions** toggle. Turn it on to see transactions you've hidden, without permanently unhiding them - useful for reviewing or restoring them later.
## Customization Badges in Transaction Detail
When you have renamed a merchant or changed its category, a **Custom** badge now appears next to that field in the detail view. If a transaction is hidden from totals, a **Hidden from totals** badge appears below the amount. Both make it easy to see at a glance what you have changed versus what your bank reported.
## More Granular Notification Controls
Notification settings on web are now organized into eight groups - Income, Spending, Bills, Problems, Credit, Net worth, Reviews, and From us - with specific categories inside each that you can switch on or off individually.
## Bug Fixes and Polish
* Applying a category to **All \[merchant]** now correctly overrides any earlier one-off edits on individual transactions from that merchant
* Transaction dates now reflect your local calendar day - evening transactions no longer appear on the next day for users in time zones west of UTC
* Merchant names now appear with consistent capitalization between the transaction list and the detail view
* The transaction history section in the detail view now more accurately shows other purchases from the same merchant
* Long custom merchant names no longer overflow the group header in the transaction list
* Alerts for bounced payments, stopped subscriptions, large charges, and bank fees are less likely to fire incorrectly
## Redesigned Onboarding
Onboarding is redesigned from top to bottom: a new welcome screen, a segmented progress bar, a simpler name step, and a recommended assistant picked based on your goals.

## Edit Transaction Categories
You can now change a transaction's category right from the detail screen, with smart suggestions when a category rule conflicts. The transaction and recurring detail screens are also redesigned to surface what matters first.

* A spam folder hint shows up after you resend a verification code

## More Transaction Controls
Two new actions in the transaction detail menu on web round out the controls added last week. **Rename merchant** lets you give a cleaner label to one transaction or every transaction from the same merchant - the bank's original name stays as secondary text. **Restore bank defaults** reverses any customizations (category, name, or visibility) for one transaction or all transactions from the same merchant at once.
## Consistent Labels Across Web and iOS
Several web labels now match their iOS counterparts: the page previously called **Expenses** is now **Spending**, **Ask AI** in the sidebar is now **Assistant**, and **Billing** in Settings is now **Membership**. Everything is in the same place - just under the names you may already know from the iOS app.
## Insights Right When You Connect
Your first AI insights now appear as soon as you connect a bank, instead of waiting up to six hours for the next scheduled run. Push notifications and digest emails are also now delivered in the morning.
## Bug Fixes and Polish
* Overdue bills now appear in the Recurring Upcoming tab with a clear "N days overdue" label, instead of being dropped from the list silently
* The Net Worth chart no longer shifts when you hide a transaction - hiding only affects spending totals, not balance history
* Hidden and deleted transactions are now consistently excluded from both Recurring detail views and Income pay history
* Insight alerts are more precise - suspected double charges, bounced payments, and large refund notifications are less likely to fire when they should not
* Spending analysis loads faster, and transaction order is now the same between iOS and web for same-day purchases
## Transaction Controls
Available on the web at [app.mytruv.com](https://app.mytruv.com/login). Coming soon to the iOS app.
You can now manage individual transactions right from the detail view. Open the menu in the top corner of any transaction to:
* **Change category** - pick a new category from a searchable list. Apply it to just that transaction, or to every transaction from the same merchant - past and future.
* **Hide from totals** - exclude a transaction from your spending summary without deleting it. An Undo option appears for 10 seconds if you change your mind.
* **Delete** - permanently remove a transaction from your history. An Undo option appears for 10 seconds if you change your mind.
## Bug Fixes and Polish
* Spending charts now show the day you made a purchase, not the day your bank settled it
* Credit card payments and bank transfers no longer appear as recurring expenses
* The account setup checklist now updates right after you connect a bank
## Onboarding Checklist on Home
Your first steps now live on the Home screen as a checklist - connect your bank, start a trial, and meet your AI assistant right where you land after signing in. No more guessing what to do next.
## Notifications Inbox
Notifications got a proper Inbox layout grouped by date - Today, Yesterday, and then the specific day for older notifications - so it's easier to scan what's recent versus what's older.
## Refreshed Look
* Per-tab gradient backgrounds make each section feel distinct
* Larger row text and a unified section-header style across the app
* Insight cards lead with an abstract gradient hero instead of a chart icon
## Promo Codes
Promo code links (e.g. shared by support or in an email) now open the paywall directly with the discount applied - no extra steps.

## Recurring Income
The Recurring page now shows the full picture - money in and out. Recurring income (salary, direct deposits, and other regular inflows) appears alongside subscriptions on both the Upcoming and All tabs and in the detail view. Income rows are shown in green with a + prefix.
A summary at the top shows your active subscription count, monthly expense total, income source count, and monthly income total.
## Filters for Recurring
* Filter by status: Active, Inactive, or Irregular
* Filter by billing frequency: weekly, monthly, annual, and any other cadence in your data
* Each recurring row and detail view now shows which account gets charged
## Onboarding Refresh
The bank-connection onboarding has refreshed animations and copy. After you connect a new bank, the summary dashboard shows a clear "Importing your accounts" state, then switches to your real data once the sync completes.

* Chart axis labels now show clean round numbers
* Mobile chart fixes across Net Worth, income breakdown, and pay history: no more clipping, overflow, or incorrectly formatted negative values

## New AI Insights
MyTruv now generates a much wider range of proactive insights. Beyond spending patterns, you get notified about large or unusual transactions, suspected double charges, large refunds, bounced payments, high credit utilization, upcoming credit card payments, and savings milestones. Insights run daily and arrive as push notifications when enabled.
## AI Chat Improvements
The assistant now gives accurate answers about MyTruv features, grounded in real help-center content.
## Performance
* Balance history loads near-instantly on repeat visits (was up to 24 seconds)
* Connecting multiple bank accounts now syncs all links in parallel, so your data appears faster

## A Fresh Look
MyTruv got a visual refresh - new category icons, an updated app icon, and a new typeface across the whole app.

## Dashboard Setup Checklist
A non-blocking checklist on the dashboard shows your account-setup progress after you sign up. Each data page (transactions, insights, cashflow, recurring, net worth) also has a redesigned empty state with a "Connect your accounts" prompt when no bank is linked.
## App for iPhone
iPhone Safari users who land on the web app now see an App Store prompt, making it easier to get the native experience.
## Sync State on Every Page
Every data page now handles the post-connection sync period cleanly. Instead of a skeleton flash followed by an empty state, you see a clear "Importing your accounts" screen that updates as the sync progresses.

* Promo codes from shared links are applied correctly at checkout, even after you sign in
* The trial signup flow now goes straight from plan comparison to checkout

## Faster Data Loading
The Income tab loads dramatically faster - income reports are now cached per connected account and refreshed when your bank syncs, instead of being recalculated from scratch on every visit. Spending and transaction data also loads significantly faster thanks to optimized database queries.
## More Reliable AI Assistant
The AI assistant now has an automatic fallback model. If the primary AI provider returns an error or times out, your response completes via a backup - no more "Internal Server Error" messages or 60-second hangs. The AI assistant also works immediately for new users before they connect a bank.
## Recurring Bills Accuracy
Fast food and restaurant transactions are no longer incorrectly flagged as recurring expenses. Your recurring bills list now shows only genuine subscriptions and regular charges.
## New Income Categories
Bank interest, investment returns, and other deposit types now appear with the correct labels in your Income breakdown instead of being grouped generically.
## Subscription & Trial
* Free trial can only be used once per account
* Free plan is limited to 1 bank connection and 1 payroll connection - upgrade to Pro for unlimited connections
## Transactions Filters
The transactions page now has full filter parity with iOS. Filter by multiple categories, multiple accounts, transaction type, and amount range, and sort oldest or newest first. Your filters are preserved in shareable links and bookmarks.
## AI Assistant Settings
Settings > Assistant lets you rename your AI, choose its avatar, edit its memory, and write custom instructions - matching the personalization options already available on iOS.
## Profile Photos
Users who sign in with Google or Apple now see their profile photo in the header and settings instead of a placeholder.
## Bug Fixes and Polish
* Employment dates, pay dates, and chart dates show the correct local calendar day for users outside UTC
* Users with multiple employers now see all of them on the income page
* Active Connections no longer shows duplicate accounts when two connections point to the same bank
* The assistant Memory and Instructions modals no longer extend past the screen on mobile
* "Oldest first" sort on the transactions page now shows rows in the correct order
* On mobile, the cash flow month picker moved above the chart so it no longer overlaps the chat prompt
## CLI v1.1.0 - New Commands
A new `mytruv insights` command reads your AI-generated financial insights right in the terminal, with title, summary, and follow-up suggestions rendered as plain text.
The `transactions` command also gained expanded filters: `--type`, `--account`, `--category`, `--min-amount`, `--max-amount`, `--merchant`, `--sort`, and `--order`. `--output csv` now streams from the server and supports up to 10,000 rows per export.
## Much Faster Startup
CLI startup time dropped from \~9 seconds to under 0.2 seconds on a warm cache. Modules now load on demand instead of all at once.

## Bug Fixes
* Fixed `mytruv balance-history` returning a 422 error due to incorrect date range encoding
## Public API: Bearer Token Auth
The public REST API now uses `Authorization: Bearer ` instead of Basic Auth. This is a breaking change if you used the old `Basic base64(user_id:token)` format - update your Authorization header to `Bearer `. Personal access tokens can be generated at [app.mytruv.com/login](https://app.mytruv.com/login); each is a hex string with a `pat_` prefix.
The faster v2 endpoints (balances, transactions, spending) are now also accessible via personal access token and MCP broker tokens.
## API Keys
Settings > API Keys lets you create, rotate, and delete personal access tokens for scripting and automated workflows. A new token is shown once when you create it, with copy buttons for both the token and your user ID.
## Merchant Names
Transactions across the home page, list, insights, and detail views now show cleaned-up merchant names instead of raw bank description strings.
## Subscription Improvements
* App Store subscribers no longer see cancel and "Keep Pro" buttons that only work for direct web subscribers
* The `EARLYBIRD` promo code auto-applies at checkout for eligible users, with the discounted price shown in the payment summary
## Bug Fixes and Polish
* Modals (disconnect, confirmation, and the like) open as a centered dialog on desktop and a bottom drawer on mobile
* Long category labels on the home page no longer overlap the transaction amount column
* Tapping a notification that links to a deleted insight now redirects cleanly to the insights list

Home got a softer typeface (PP Neue Montreal), refreshed colors throughout the design system, and smarter loading. Skeleton placeholders now show on Home accounts and spending breakdown while data syncs, so you no longer see premature "Connect" buttons or empty cards before everything has loaded.
## Insights Polish
* Onboarding insights lead with the strongest visualizations first, so your very first AI insight is the most interesting one
* Insight cards got refined dark-mode contrast and a subtle swipe-hint wiggle the first time you see them, so the gesture is easier to discover
* Insight text wraps to two lines and gracefully handles missing follow-ups

* All expense categories are shown - no more hidden ones beyond the top 10
