# What Are Insights?

> System-generated observations about your finances - what they look like, where to find them, and how to act on one.

Insights are observations MyTruv generates from your account data, so you find out what changed in your spending, income, or balances without having to dig through transactions yourself.

## What an insight looks like

Each insight includes:

* A **headline** summarizing the observation
* **Details** with specific numbers and context
* An optional **visualization** (chart, table) when the data calls for one
* An **Ask AI** follow-up button that opens the assistant with a related prompt pre-filled

Examples:

* "Your dining spending increased 25% compared to last month"
* "You have 3 subscriptions you haven't used in 30 days"
* "Your net worth has grown by \$1,200 this quarter"
* "An upcoming bill of \$150 is expected in 3 days"

## Where to find insights

Insights live in the [Feed](https://app.mytruv.com/data/highlights). The Home page shows a strip of cards you can scroll through; open one to reach the full Feed, where insights appear alongside your other alerts and to-dos, one card at a time. Swipe up for the next card, tap a card to read the full write-up, and tap **Discuss** to ask the assistant about it. Search results and insight notifications open the matching card in the Feed.

<Tip>The Feed tab is available in MyTruv iOS 1.7 and later. Before 1.7, iOS showed a swipeable insight carousel on Home plus a separate Insights page.</Tip>

If you don't see an insight on Home, open the full Feed - the Home strip keeps to a small number of cards, so the full Feed often has more.

## Rating insights

Every Feed card carries a **Helpful** heart and a **Not helpful** one next to it. Tap either to set your reaction, tap again to take it back. You're rating the card, not the news it delivers - **Not helpful** on a card about overspending just means that kind of card isn't useful to you. Ratings are saved to your account, so they survive closing the app.

<Note>Rating a card doesn't remove it from the Feed. Once you've read a card it moves to the bottom, in with the other cards you've already read.</Note>

<Note>Before MyTruv iOS 1.7, ratings lived on the Insights page instead: a thumbs-up kept the insight in the main list, and a thumbs-down moved it into an **Archived** section at the bottom, where you could reopen it and change your rating.</Note>

## Push notifications for insights

Insights can also arrive as push notifications. Manage this in **Settings → Notifications** - the **Insights** category controls whether new insights notify you.

## Talking to the assistant about an insight

Every insight has an **Ask AI** button on its detail view. It opens the assistant with a question already drafted, so you can dig into the insight without copying anything by hand. See [Acting on Insights](/insights/acting-on-insights).

<Tip>Check the full Feed once a month even if your Home is quiet - text-only insights about subscriptions or one-off charges often show up there first.</Tip>
