# Grouping Transactions

> Organize your transaction list by date, time period, or merchant.

MyTruv organizes your transactions so you can browse them the way that makes sense for what you're trying to learn.

## Default grouping

By default, transactions are grouped by **day**, with the most recent at the top. Each day shows the date and a total amount for that day across all your connected accounts.

## Changing the grouping

Both platforms expose a **Group By** control on the Transactions page:

<Note>
  **By Time** - choose **Daily**, **Weekly**, or **Monthly** to roll up transactions into wider buckets with a total per bucket.

  **By Merchant** - group every transaction from the same merchant together, sorted by total amount.
</Note>

Grouping is automatically disabled when you sort by amount - the list flattens so the biggest (or smallest) amounts are visible without bucket headers.

## Sorting

In addition to grouping, you can sort the list itself:

* **Newest first** (default)
* **Oldest first**
* **Amount: high to low**
* **Amount: low to high**

## Combining accounts

MyTruv merges transactions from all your connected accounts into a single timeline so you see a complete picture without switching between accounts. Use the **Account** filter on the Transactions page to focus on one account at a time.

## Category grouping

To see your transactions grouped by spending category (with category-level totals and trends), go to the **Spending** page - see [Spending by Category](/spending/spending-by-category).

<Tip>Switch to **Group By → By Merchant** when you want to spot recurring purchases or quickly identify which merchants you spend the most at.</Tip>
