The month-to-date view shows your total spending from the 1st of the current month through today, with last month’s spending for the same window right beside it.
Where to find it
The Month-to-date card lives at the top of the Spending page on both platforms - see Spending Overview for the full layout.
What you’ll see
- Total spent so far - the running sum from the 1st of the month through today
- Side-by-side with last month - last month’s spending for the same date range (e.g. 1st through 15th), so you can tell if you’re on or off pace
- Category breakdown - the same totals split by spending category, so you can spot where the difference is coming from
What it’s good for
- Pace check - “am I spending more or less than usual at this point in the month?”
- Catch outliers early - a single big charge mid-month is much easier to spot in the MTD view than in a full-month total
- Category-level pulse - quickly see if one category is unusually high so far
Glance at MTD around the middle of the month - that’s when the side-by-side comparison is most informative. Comparing on the 1st or 2nd is noisy since one or two transactions can swing the total.
