MyTruv connects to your bank accounts through a secure third-party provider to give you a complete picture of your finances. Here’s why we need your bank login and how it works.

How the connection works

  • We use a trusted data provider - MyTruv connects to your bank through Plaid, an industry-leading financial data platform used by thousands of apps
  • Your credentials go directly to your bank - When you enter your login details, they’re sent directly to your financial institution through Plaid’s encrypted connection
  • MyTruv never sees or stores your bank password - Your credentials are handled entirely by Plaid and your bank

What we can and can’t do

  • Read-only access - MyTruv can only view your account information and transactions. We cannot move money, make payments, or perform any actions on your accounts
  • No changes to your account - Connecting MyTruv will not affect your bank account settings, balances, or security in any way

Why not just read-only APIs?

Most banks don’t offer public APIs for consumers to access their own data. Plaid bridges this gap by securely connecting to your bank on your behalf, the same way you would log in through your bank’s website.
You can disconnect any linked account at any time from the Accounts tab. This immediately revokes MyTruv’s access to that account’s data.
